What is your background and how did you become part of the LSF team?
I have an Undergraduate in Marketing from Kent State University (2001) and a Doctorate of Law from the University of Akron School of Law (2005).
I began my career in law as a law clerk in 2002. I continued my employment with the same firm and practiced personal injury, workers’ compensation, and social security disability law since my bar passing in 2005.
How I got to LSF was somewhat serendipitous. I was seeking to obtain outside counsel to handle the litigation aspect of my personal injury practice. Trial work had started to become quite daunting and was taking my much-needed attention away from my growing workers’ compensation and social security disability practices. Following an email to the Ohio Association of Justice listserve, I received a call from Greg Scott who expressed LSF’s desire to take on the litigation portion of my practice and then invited me to a Cavs game to seal the deal. I, of course, could not refuse a good time and happily accepted. While I expected to enjoy a night out on the town watching the hottest basketball team in the country, I did not expect Mr. Scott to express interest in hiring me as an attorney! I was flattered by the gesture and excited about the possibility of working with such a highly acclaimed law firm. After a few more meetings, I happily accepted an offer of employment as an associate attorney. Working with LSF has truly been a blessing and I am so glad that I took that leap of faith five years ago!
Tell us about your family and pets:
I am a proud mother of three children (Cayly, 15; Noah, 12; and Vincenzo, 3) and wife to Andrew Tomaso. Cayly is a talented artist and loves expressing herself through art and fashion. Noah enjoys playing video games and spending time with his cousins and baby brother. Vinny is sweet and inquisitive and is currently obsessed with anything Halloween (especially witches!) My husband is a schoolteacher and an accomplished wrestling coach. We have a dachshund named Rosalina (aka Rosa) who is a little wild woman that loves running outside, playing with the kids, and napping with mom and dad.
Hobbies you enjoy outside of work:
When I am not working or spending time with my family, I enjoy exercising, cooking Thai and Italian food, playing video games, watching horror movies and reality tv, and tending to my garden/plants.
If you could have dinner with any person in history, who would it be and why?
Not an easy question to answer, but I would have to say, Judge Judy. I am a little obsessed with her show and watch it all of the time. Judge Judy is smart, successful, quick-witted, sassy, and calls it like it is! She is basically the type of professional woman I strive to be.
