Airbag Defect Lawyers Report: Chrysler Recalls 2,408 RAM ProMaster City Cargo Vans

May 11, 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of 2,408 RAM ProMaster City vehicles manufactured between November 6, 2014 and March 17, 2015, due to a dangerous manufacturing defect.  The 2015 vehicles, manufactured byFiat Chrysler Automobiles, come equipped with federally mandated side airbag “curtains,” but the improper installation of the curtains can prevent the side airbags from deploying in the event of a crash.  Drivers and passengers are at risk of serious personal injury or death in the event that a defective airbag does not deploy; therefore, owners should cease use of the affected vehicles and contact the manufacturer for necessary repairs.

Airbag recalls have been in the news of late, largely because of the widely publicized Takata airbag recall.  While the RAM recall is by no means as large as the Takata recall, it is particularly important that those who follow the industry, including airbag defect lawyers, publicize the ProMaster recall because of the type of vehicle involved.

The RAM Promaster City is a compact cargo van that is typically used for business purposes.  Because of this, the individuals who routinely drive these vehicles may not be the owners of the vehicles, but rather employees of a business that owns the vehicles.  This means that there is a high possibility that the individuals most at risk of injury will not receive notice of the defect from the manufacturer.  If you know of a friend, loved one, or other person who drives a ProMaster City owned by an employer, let them know about this recall.  You may just save a life.
