GM Issues 69th Recall of 2014

October 4, 2014

With three months still remaining in the calendar year, General Motors has issued its 69th recall of 2014.  The combined 2014 recalls cover nearly 30 million vehicles.  Perhaps most staggering about this number is the fact that the nearly 30 million dangerous and defective products were put on the market by a single manufacturer.

Let that sink in.  Millions upon millions of potentially dangerous–even deadly–products have been offered for sale to unsuspecting consumers by a single company.  Fortunately for consumers, the bad press that GM received from the GM ignition switch recall has caused an avalanche of recalls across the automotive industry.  But what about other manufacturing industries whose negligence has not been put into the spotlight?

It is appalling that it took several tragic deaths to coax GM into recalling its dangerous vehicles, but, as product liability lawyers can tell you, it is not surprising.  Too often manufacturers produce defective products that are unreasonably unsafe for consumers.  Automobiles, bicycles, appliances, and gym equipment are just a small sample of the types of products that we frequently investigate due to manufacturers’ lax safety and design standards.  The harsh truth is that too many companies forego essential design, safety, and quality control testing to save on production costs.  But when manufacturers cut corners, it costs personal injury victims dearly.

If you or a loved one have been injured due to a malfunctioning or defective product, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.  Contact the Ohio GM ignition switch attorneys at Lowe Scott Fisher Co., LPA to discuss your product liability case.
