Ohio Product Liability Lawyer Report: June Recalls Cover a Wide Array of Products

June 20, 2015

Over the past month, companies have recalled an assortment of products that unsuspecting consumers might not perceive as being potentially dangerous.  While many associate product liability injury cases with auto defects or defective manufacturing equipment, the truth is that almost any consumer product has the potential to cause serious injury if manufacturers neglect to take adequate safety precautions.  The June 2015 recalls provide just a small sample of some the products that may not seem dangerous but can create unreasonable hazards to end users.

Speaker Recall Due to Fire Hazard

Apple recalled its Beats by Dre Pill XL speaker due to the possibility of the product overheating and catching fire.  Most consumers would never imagine when buying a new speaker that it could potential cause a house fire or harm their loved ones.  Unfortunately, the potential injuries involved here are all too common.  Overheating small appliances and electronics routinely cause fires, property damage, personal injuries, and even death.

Vitamin Recalls Due to Improper Child-Resistant Packaging

Certain Walgreens vitamins were recalled by International Vitamin because the vitamin container did not meet child-resistant closure requirements.  Drugs, medicines, and vitamins containing iron can all cause serious health problems, injuries, and death when ingested in excessive quantities by children.  As consumers, we often take the security of child-resistant packaging for granted.  But the sad fact is that manufacturer negligence can and does lead to injuries in small children.

Another Road Bike Recall

Colnago America has recalled certain Colnago CF10 and Colnago V1-r bikes and frame kits due to the possibility that the bike’s brakes can detach during use.  We have previously discussed on this blog the seriousness of bicycle crash related injuries, particularly when the bicycle involved is designed for use on public roadways.  Broken bones, TBI, spinal injuries, and death can result.
